Acceptable Use Policy
Template for review by qualified counsel before public launch. Replace every [FILL] marker. Last updated: 2026-10-10.
WhatsTIG is for messages that recipients expect and want: notifications from organizations they deal with, replies to their questions, and conversations they started.
You must
- Have each recipient's consent (or another lawful basis) to contact them on WhatsApp.
- Honour opt-outs promptly and permanently. If someone asks you to stop, stop.
- Identify yourself clearly in messages.
- Keep sending volumes proportionate to your relationship with recipients.
- Keep proof of consent for every contact you message with campaigns (WhatsTIG stores what you record), and only attest that an imported list opted in when that is true for every person in it.
- If you switch a project to opt-out consent mode, only message people with whom you have an existing relationship and a lawful basis to contact them; you remain responsible for that basis.
- Follow WhatsApp's own terms and policies, and the laws of the countries where you and your recipients are.
You must not
- Send unsolicited bulk or marketing messages, or use purchased, scraped or rented contact lists, including through campaigns or imports.
- Re-subscribe people who opted out without their explicit, documented request.
- Send messages that are fraudulent, deceptive, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, or that facilitate illegal activity.
- Impersonate any person or organization.
- Use WhatsTIG to evade WhatsApp's limits, restrictions or detection systems, for example by rotating numbers to continue after an account was restricted.
- Probe, overload or attack the service or other customers, or attempt to bypass rate limits or tenant isolation.
- Share or resell API keys outside your organization.
Enforcement
We may throttle, suspend or terminate projects that violate this policy, with or without notice depending on severity. WhatsApp may independently restrict accounts; we cannot reverse its decisions.
